1933 - 2002
N. R. Wahl died Oct. 10, 2002, at his residence near Depew. He was 69 years of age.
He was born Sept. 5, 1935, in Lowrey, Ark., the son of Henry George and Minnie Matlock Wahl.
N. R. Wahl and Shirley Webster were married June 3, 1968 in Stillwell.
He had lived in the Depew area since August of 1974, and he was a member of the First Church of God.
N. R. was meat market manager at Safeway and Homeland before his retirement in the early 1990's. He was also a grader operator for Creek County for over four years. He served with the U.S. Army for eight years, including the Korean War.
N. R. was a member of the Bristow Elks Lodge 1614, American Legion Post 093 in Mission, Texas, and a Life Member of VFW Post 3895 in LaJolla, Texas. He loved fishing, camping, traveling and farming.
Mr. Wahl is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; two sons, Larry Wahl his wife, Cindy, of Tulsa and Larry Carson and his wife DeLes, of Slick; three daughters, Vicki Hayes and her husband, Tom, of Tulsa, Cissie Gaskins and her husband Sammy, of Slick, and Emmie and Martin Archibald of Depew; one brother, George Wahl of Slick; sister-in-law, Norine Wahl of Sapulpa, and mother-in-law, Sibyl Yocum of Depew.
He is also survived 10 grandchildren, Nathon Gaskins of Slick, Brandy and Ben Hallman of Bristow, Jeremy Gaskins of Slick, Tiffany and Tommy Vick of Bristow, Tasha Towler and Chris Archibald, both of Depew, Adam Hayes, Jordan Hayes, Alex Wahl, and Magen Wahl, all of Tulsa; one great-grandson, Joshua Hallman of Bristow, as well as a host of other family and friends.
Mr. Wahl was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, William Wahl.
Graveside services were Oct. 14, 2002, at Sunrise Cemetery near Kellyville. Rev. Millard "Preach" McGuire officiated.
Services were under the direction of Schumacher Funeral Home of Bristow.
