Company E, 6th Battalion, Texas Cavalry
(Gould's Texas Cavalry)

Born February 27, 1841 in Kentucky

In 1910 he was living south of Wynnewood in Murray County

His military unit is taken from a 1905 booklet where he is listed as being from Davis, Oklahoma.  The National Park Service's roster lists a Larkin Hoffman as a private in Co. E, 6th Battalion, Texas Cavalry.  It sayd the commanders were Lt. Col. Robert S. Gould and Major William W. Veser.

A descendant says Larkin went by the name 'Larry' and was a member of the Church of Christ.  He said Larkin died one day and was buried the next because Larkin did not believe in being enbalmed.

Larkin was a lay preacher, filling in when the regular preacher was absent.
