Born December 25, 1847 at Homestead Farm, near Hoscton in Jackson County, Georgia

Died  June 5, 1917 near Mineral Wells, Texas

Buried in Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Mineral Wells, Texas.

Marcus originally moved to the Wynnewood area in 1887. He was a land agent in this area and also opened a grocery store her in 1895.  He is listed in both the 1900 and 1910 census of Wynnewood

He purchased land in Loving Valley, Parker County, Texas in 1886.

Anna Valulia Pirkle and Marcus Leslie Sells were married in Jackson County, Georgia on October 6, 1882.

They returned to their land in Loving Valley, Texas in 1914.

Anna applied for a pension in Parker County Texas.

The pension application states that Marcus was wounded in the Battle of Atlanta and walked 20 miles using his gun as a crutch. 

He enlisted in the Confederate Army at Jefferson, Georgia, on August 25, 1862.
