Born in August, 1848 in Arkansas. 

The 1900 census has a Howard C. Soward in Garvin Country. I think this is the same man, just a mistake on the name. 

Henry's wife, Nancy, applied for a pension in 1925 but was refused, even after Sam Hargis and William Garner, two Wynnewood veterans, signed affidavits saying they knew he had acted as courier and mail carrier for the Confederacy.
