Wyatt Chapel School Photo of 1929

Top row left to right are my mother, Clairssa Juanita Main, her cousin, Inez Main, and her sister, Reppard Clementine "Pat" Main.  On the back of the photo are the inscriptions, "Wyatt Chapel Primary School Group", "teacher, Florence Fitzgerald", and the date "1929".  The teacher's name and date appear to have been added years later.  Florence Fitzgerald went to Pernell and taught there until her retirement.  My mother said that the school was often referred to as Wrinkle Sock.  This was due to the large number of poor families who could not afford new socks.  She remembers a small chapel within a few feet south of the school.  Clairssa was 13 years old in the photo and is 92 years old as of 2008.
