Robert W. SCOTT and family, William Lloyd SCOTT and family, Hester Jane (SCOTT) ESTUS and family, and Mountford J SCOTT and family are all believed to have participated in the 1889 Oklahoma Landrun. They all homesteaded near Mulhall OK. I have copies of the homestead papers for Robert W. and Mountford J SCOTT-my direct line. A family story has it that Mountford J found a Sooner on the land he wanted to claim during the Landrun and traded his saddle for the right to stake it.

Mountford J married Lettie DAKAN. The DAKAN family is listed as being in the same township in 1885. Thomas (66) and Sarrah (51) DAKAN along with Lettie(16), Mary(18) and Carrie (8). There are family pictures of Lettie and Carrie. Carrie married a YOUNG and had a daughter Gertrude (picture). In the Iowa Southwest Bedford Iowa newspaper, dated 7 Sep 1878, is mention of Thomas Daken and family of Polk Township moving to Cowley County Kansas.

Mountford J and Lettie (10 Sep 1869-23 Mar 1890) had 2 sons:

Lloyd Eugene 30 Oct 1887-1 Dec 1895

Mountford's second wife was Ada BLAKESLEY (5 Nov 1876-6 March 1911). They married 7 Nov 1892. They had 8 children and adopted one. Of the 8, the following are buried in Roselawn: John Coxy (23 June 1895-19 Sep 1898), Theodore Roosevelt (21 Sep 1904-8 June 1906), Charles Edward (14 April 1906-12 July 1950) and Roxie Leola (27 June 1909-14 July 1909).
