1st Lt. Frank E. Baker graduated from the U.S. Army Air Corps Flying
School at Luke Field, Arizona in April 1944. As a P-47 pilot he flew 90
ground
attack missions in Europe in support of U.S. 3rd Army and 7th Army ground
operations.
After the war, he returned to college and received degrees in geology from
both Tulsa University and the University of Oklahoma. While attending
Tulsa University, he flew as a P-51 pilot in the Oklahoma National Guard.
He was employed as a geologist in both industry and the Federal government for 25 years. He retired in 1976 due to a health condition.
Frank he currently lives in Cape Coral, FL.
UPDATE:
Frank Elmore Baker died April 10, 2000 at his home in Cape Coral, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Ella Ann, of the home; a daughter, Sharon Myers, Virginia Beach, VA and 2 grandchildren
