Funeral services for Paul A. Parker, 85, longtime Guthrie resident and businessman are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at Davis Funeral Chapel in Guthrie. The Rev. Ron Jenkins will officiate and burial will be in Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Paul was born July 6, 1912, in LaCygne, Linn County, Kan., to Charley A. and Katie B. (Baldwin) Parker. He died Friday, Feb. 6, 1998 at Logan Hospital and Medical Center in Guthrie.
He graduated from Guthrie High School in 1931 and attended college in Edmond. He worked at the Douglas Plant during World War II and was owner and operator of Parker Advertising Company from 1946 until his retirement in 1974. Paul served two terms on the Guthrie City Council, he was past president of the Guthrie Rotary Club and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Service Knights.
He married Kathleen Barry of Guthrie on March 24, 1934.
Survivors included his wife, Kathleen Parker of the home in Guthrie; one son, Norman A. Parker and wife, Nancy, of Norman; two daughters, Linda Parker and husband, Bob Clark and Dee Ann Anderson and husband George (Andy) Anderson, all of Edmond; one brother, Claud Parker and wife, Hallie, of Clinton, Okla.; sister-in-law, Bettie Belle (Barry) McGinnis of Guthrie; brothers-in-law, John Barry and wife Anne of Tulsa, Okla. and Charles Barry and wife, Elizabeth of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Opal, and more recently by a son, Michael Parker, on Jan. 22, 1998. |
