Jerry Fruin Buckner
Blues Singer
Coyle, Logan County, Oklahoma
February 18, 1941
Future Not As Blue As Her Songs
Prospects of a musical career crooning on the ether waves appeared brighter Tuesday for an attractive young county songstress, Mrs. Jerry Fruin Buckner, of Coyle.
Three times during the last two weeks, the honey-voiced, blonde-haired young blues singer has stepped up to a microphone in an Oklahoma City studio to send her husky, contralto voice lilting over the air waves.
She has appeared on the Micro Fun show, a talent discovery program.Winners are determined by popular vote sent in by listeners. One person sings daily on the program, with the winner selected for the week.
Mrs. Buckner sang two weeks ago last Friday and at 5 p.m. Monday. She sings under the name of Jerry Fruin.
Although no offers have been forthcoming for the county singer so far, officials have expressed confidence she has talent as evidenced by her three appearances on the program.
Encouragement has been offered by the officials who have been giving Mrs. Buckner private tuition on attuning her voice to the microphone.
She has appeared on county programs upon numerous occasions, and is well-known to county audiences. She is a graduate of Oklahoma A and M college and the Chicago Conservatory of Music.
