SURNAMES: SHORT, WILLIAMS, HARRIS
QRYTEXT: I am living in Edinburgh, Scotland, so is very difficult for me to track/research/go to places that I would like, to search for my family. My Great-Grandfather, Oral Short , was involved in the Land Run. I do not know the year. I have "heard" that he was some sort of Lawman for Guthrie. I have "heard" that he used the "family wagon" to lay the bricks in Guthrie for the streets. He had several children...I can only remember a few...Fair (pronounceation, but not sure of spelling) who was male; Leitha, who married a man with last name "Harris". Don't know kids or anything. However, I have "heard" Leithi was the first woman to cross the Canadian River, in Oklahoma, and I have seen newsclippings to this affect, to back up the story; Dorothy (Dot) who married Harry Hudson, had 3 children Rayma Kay, Forrest Lee, and I don't remember the other one; and then Mollie (Lula Belle) who is my Grandmother, she married Harley Lee Williams, they had a son Dale Williams, born 1927, (my Dad) and Wanda Williams. Dale married Oma Thomas (Missouri) and Wanda married Emmert (Dinty) Hunt. Oral was said to have written a song called "The Drunkards Dream". He was 107 when he died and he died on his birthday. My father, Dale, has since passed over. My relatives on that side, unfortunatley, has decided not to corrospond with my sister and myself. I have 2 nephews, which I would like them to be aware of their roots and family. If anyone can be of any help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanking you in advance, Charmaine Williams Russell

SURNAMES: HARDING, JACKMAN, HOLCOMB
QRYTEXT: Am looking for the marriage of Harry B. HARDING to ALYCE (last name unknown). A death certificate issued in 1945 from Logan Co., listed Harry as a widow, wife's name as Alyce. He lived at 117 1/2 E. Oklahoma, Guthrie at time of death. I have a census record of him in 1920 as single, living with his parents in MO, so would suppose he might have married sometime after that. He was born 1879 or 1881, so would have been 38-41 in 1920. I am interested in a marriage date, last name of Alyce, birth/death date. His sister Gertrude JACKMAN took his body back to MO for burial. He had a sister Myrtle HOLCOMB who also lived in Guthrie. Any information will be appreciated.

SURNAMES: STEPHENS
QRYTEXT: My grandfather and grandmother, George M. and Margaret A. Stephens, lived in or near Seward, Ok. from 1892 to about 1902. During that time several children were born there. Two of those children died within a year of their birth. I am trying to locate the cemetery in which they would be buried, and some confirmation of records of their burial. They are: Lova Alice, b. 1896, d. 1897, and Fred Townsend b. 1900, d. 1901. I have been told there is or was a cemetery east of Seward at or near a crossroads. I have checked the cemetery listing on the Logan Co. website and their names do not appear. My grandparents were poor and possibly did not have money for gravestones so their graves may be unmarked. However, paper records might exist somewhere. Any help would be appreciated.
