Locomotive: Old Southern Rock Asphalt Plant locomotive
near Dougherty, OK
circa 1928. R.D. Ross was foreman at that time and bought this locomotive
so
the asphalt could be transferred to the mainline at Dougherty.*
|
Old Plant: The original plant circa 1928 before it burned
down. Notation on
pictures says car belonged to Sam Jones.*
|
New Plant '36: The plant was rebuilt and looked this way
in 1936. It
employed up to 750 workers.*
|
Plant Sale Flyer: This was the flyer that advertised the
auction of the plant and all assets in 1962. I was there and remember
thinking that everything sold for pennies on the dollar. I recall a diesel
locomotive that
sold for around $3500.* |
