John C . Dorsey, born January 4, 1923 in Imogene, Iowa, to Frank Dorsey and Pauline Wyman Dorsey, passed away in Oklahoma City on June 25, 2008.

John was a decorated World War II Veteran, including the Purple Heart. He was a Prisoner of War in Germany for twenty-seven months, eventually being discharged in 1945. Shortly thereafter, he went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, where he loyally stayed for thirty-seven years until his retirement in 1985. After his proud military service to his country, John won the heart of Lorene Patterson, his wife of fifty-seven incredible and unforgettable years. His hobbies were few but basic. He loved fishing, camping, Christmas, and spending time with family and friends. John was a fun-loving soul whose mischievous ways, quick wit, and contagious laugh were matched only by his gentle warmth and total, unconditional love towards all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his four siblings, Edward, Joe, Margaret Ann, & Marie, and by his great-grandson Sean.

He is survived by his wife Lorene; son Allen Crockett and wife Rose; grand-daughter Misty Lathan ; grandson Dirk Crockett and wife Peggy; granddaughter Lorene Owens and husband Steven and other grandchildren Barry, Garry, Read, Teresa and their families. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Katie Porter, Nick Stuckey, Karlee Lathan , Chelsea and Stephanie Owens and numerous nieces and nephews from McAlester, all of whom loved him dearly and will miss him even more. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 3:00 P.M. at Rose Hill Burial Park. Hahn-Cook Street & Draper Funeral Home.
