John C . Dorsey, born January 4, 1923 in Imogene, Iowa, to
Frank Dorsey and Pauline Wyman Dorsey, passed away in Oklahoma
City on June 25, 2008.
John was a decorated World War II Veteran, including the
Purple Heart. He was a Prisoner of War in Germany for
twenty-seven months, eventually being discharged in 1945.
Shortly thereafter, he went to work for Southwestern Bell
Telephone Company, where he loyally stayed for thirty-seven
years until his retirement in 1985. After his proud military
service to his country, John won the heart of Lorene Patterson,
his wife of fifty-seven incredible and unforgettable years. His
hobbies were few but basic. He loved fishing, camping,
Christmas, and spending time with family and friends. John was a
fun-loving soul whose mischievous ways, quick wit, and
contagious laugh were matched only by his gentle warmth and
total, unconditional love towards all who had the privilege of
knowing him.
He is preceded in death by his four siblings, Edward, Joe,
Margaret Ann, & Marie, and by his great-grandson
Sean.
He is survived by his wife Lorene; son Allen Crockett and
wife Rose; grand-daughter Misty
Lathan ; grandson Dirk Crockett and wife Peggy;
granddaughter Lorene Owens and husband Steven and other
grandchildren Barry, Garry, Read, Teresa and their families.
Also surviving are his great-grandchildren Katie Porter, Nick
Stuckey, Karlee Lathan , Chelsea and Stephanie Owens and
numerous nieces and nephews from McAlester, all of whom loved
him dearly and will miss him even more. A graveside service will
be held Saturday, June 28, 2008, at 3:00 P.M. at
Rose Hill Burial

The body of a man with Alzheimer’s disease was found
Wednesday morning in an apartment complex swimming pool.
The man had been missing since 1 a.m. and was found about 6:30
a.m. by a resident of The Dorchester apartments. KWTV-9 reported
his family identified him as 86-year-old John Dorsey, a World
War II veteran, a former prisoner of war and recipient of a
Purple Heart.
