Miss Anna Elizabeth Sakaly passed away on Friday, May 8,
1992, in the afternoon. Miss Sakaly was born on July 17, 1904,
in Yugoslavia. At a very early age, she joined her father here
in Oklahoma City, and has been a life-long resident and
professional woman. Early in the 1920's she began working for
Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in the accounting
department. In July of 1969 she retired from the telephone
company.
Miss Sakaly was a very active woman who enjoyed traveling around
the world and china painting. She was a member of Sigma Tau
Sorority, and the Pioneers of Southwestern Bell. At various
times she held offices in the Starlite China Decorators and
Porcelain Arts. Works of her china painting have been displayed
at the State Capitol Building and at state conventions. She was
active in St. Josephs Altar Society and in the Catholic
Daughters of America - St. Maria's Court. She was named
Archdiocesan Woman of the Year from St. Joseph's old Cathedral.
Miss Sakaly also served for many years as an accountant for Mrs.
O'Mealey's Cafeterias.
Recently she was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille
Roberts and a brother, Frank Sakaly.
Miss Sakaly is survived by a brother,
John Sakaly , of Oklahoma
City. She is also survived by a nephew, of Santa Monica, CA and
two nieces, one of Del City, OK an one of Channelview, TX. She
leaves behind 7 great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at St. Joseph's old Cathedral,
Monday, May 11, 1992, with graveside services at
Fairlawn Cemetery
immediately following. Smith & Kernke Funeral Home.
