John Edwin Sakaly, 77, died peacefully at home Saturday, Aug. 7, 1993. Born April 22, 1916 in OKC. Graduated from St. Joseph's High School. Received both Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Oklahoma.

Lived in Los Angeles, Ca. for 40 years where he met his wife, Jene Powell, and they were married Nov. 27, 1943. Taught at Loyola University of Los Angeles. Later retired as a design specialist from Del Mar Avionics where he contributed to air safety and the space shuttle program. Spent the last 11 years teaching mechanical engineering at O.S.U. Technical Institute, General Motors, F.A.A. and Rose State College. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was known as a man of integrity. John will be remembered as a kind, gentle , and loving man.

Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years and their youngest child, James Francis Sakaly . Also preceded by his sisters, Anna Sakaly and Lucille Roberts; his brother, Frank Sakaly . Survivors are daughters, Julia Anna Garrett of Del City and Janet Elizabeth Schachtner of Channelview, Tx.; son, John E. Sakaly , III of OKC; also 6 grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 10, 1993 in St. Joseph's Old Cathedral with interment in Arlington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the O.U. Alumni Fund.
