Laura Silkwood age 71 of Midwest City, was born November 22,
1927 in Bristow, Oklahoma to George E. and Annie (Shelburne)
Banister. She passed away Friday, June 18, 1999.
Laura worked at the State Regents office of Higher Education for
many years, and later worked for Genie Girls Temporary Services.
She was a true fan of sports, her favorites included the OU &
Dallas Cowboys football teams. She enjoyed sewing, jigsaw
puzzles, needle point , and liked collecting beanie babies. She
was a special Nana to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ray G. Silkwood ,
son, Kevin Silkwood and his wife Kim of Midwest City, daughter,
Cheryl Shahan
and her husband Sam of Choctaw, 5 grandchildren, Sammie,
Whitney, Ashley, Kaleb, Kylie and 2 great grandchildren, Cassidy
and Sierra. She was preceded in death by her parents, one
brother, one sister, and by her son Kelly Ray Silkwood.
Those who didn't know her were unable to experience her giving
heart and fighting spirit. She was a "picture perfect" Nana,
always giving 200% never asking for much in return. She was most
satisfied when she was able to make another person happy.
Looking back at our time together, we are all blessed to have
had so many wonderful years together. All of our pain and sorrow
of our loss will be replaced with joy and happiness knowing she
is in a safe and wonderful place ... and someday, we will be
together again.
