Family is Buried.
James Joseph Tracey, member of a pioneer
family, died in his home on March 17 of a heart attack. Requiem
Mass as offered on March 21 in St. Francis Church by Msgr. E.
van der Grinten when final rites were held for Mr. Tracey.
Present in the sanctuary were Msgr. John M. Connor, Msgr. John
J. Walde, Rev. Richard Dolan, Rev. Charles Beckman, Rev. F. S.
Schillo and Rev. Stephen MacAulay.
Native of Oklahoma City, he was born on
Sept 26, 1893, son of Thomas and
Margaret Haley Tracey,
who had come to Oklahoma City in 1890 from Montreal. He received
his education at St. Joseph's and St. Benedict's at Sacred Heart
Mission. A veteran of World War I, Mr. Tracey served in France
in 1917 and 1918 as an Air Corps Pilot with the 89th Aerial
Squadron. He was a member of the American Legion and 40-and-8,
and at the time of his death operated the J. J. Tracey
Construction Company.
Survivors are his wife, Katherine A.
Tracey, of the home, 1609 Gatewood, and two sons and one
daughter. They are Robert T. Tracey, 5410 Brookhaven Place;
James P. Tracey, 1231 N. E. 37th and Mary Louise Tracey of El
Monte, Calif. A brother, John Tracey, Compton, Calif., and three
sisters also survive him. They are Mrs. Ellen Welch, Shawnee;
Mrs. Harry Metcalf, Los Angeles, and Mrs. C. E. LaMonte, 825
East Drive. Kernke, Smith and Mrs. L. T. McAtee had funeral
arrangements.
Burial was in
Rose Hill when
Rev. Richard Dolan had the services at the grave. The flag
ceremony was conducted by the American Legion.
