Toddling about the yard and gleefully watching her mother as she emptied
scalding and boiling suds from a tub into a hole near the back porch, Carolyn,
the 3 year old daughter of Mrs. S. F. Wall, living two miles north of
Capitol Hill, accidentally stumbled, lost her balance and plunged headlong
into the water, sustained injuries about the head and shoulders which caused
her death.
According to Mrs. Wall, she had been washing during the day and about 3
o'clock in the afternoon had completed her task. The baby had been following
her about the house the greater portion of the time and toddled after her
when she emptied the hot suds into a depression of the backyard. In turning,
the child slipped, falling into the pool, and before she could be rescued
her brain had been all but cooked and her face and shoulders blistered.
Physicians worked until late Tuesday night, but early yesterday morning she
died.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence at 10 o'clock this
morning. The body will be interred in Sunny Lane cemetery.
