Alvin grew up in Idabel, Elaine in Putnam, yet they met half way in Oklahoma City. After two tours in the Navy, Alvin returned home to marry Elaine and start their family. After 50 years of marriage, they are still meeting halfway on everything. *

Married: Aug. 7,1948.

Celebration: The couple will celebrate from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the IOOF Lodge in Jones. Children: Shirley Sloan of Edmond; Sharon Chase and Pam Eeds of Jones; Kathy Spitz of Greenville, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Occupation: Alvin is retired from Safeway Warehouse. Elaine is a homemaker.

As this week's anniversary winner, the couple will receive a gift certificate for $25 to use at any El Chico, Olive Garden or Western Sizzlin.
