DORCAS MARIE GRAHAM, 83, passed away at her home in Edmond on Tuesday, August 5, 2003, and her funeral service was held here Friday.
She was born on June 2, 1920 at Pocahontas, Arkansas, to Robert Edgar Cooper and Lottie Belle (Hibbard) Cooper.
Sims Nelson Hart became her husband on August 23, 1939, at Weatherford, Okla. He preceded her in death June 23, 1945, at the U.S. Naval hospital in
Aliea, Hawaii while serving on active duty in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
She married Lester Graham of Pawnee on August 17, 1947, in Ponca City, Okla. And he preceded her in death on January 28, 1995.
They established their home in Pawnee in 1947 and moved to Edmond in 1967 where she has lived since.
Dorcas was a member of the Southern Hills Christian Church in Edmond and was a member of the American Association of University Women of Southwestern
Oklahoma State University.
She was the fourth oldest of 7 children. She loved to discuss politics with her nephews, and was a loyal devoted Democrat. She loved cooking, singing,
and most of all loved her family. Dorcas had a feisty spirit, sense of humor and gracious and loving personality.
Surviving are 3 children: Charles Hart and wife, Peggy, Broken Arrow, Okla.; Randi Tanner and husband, Richard,, also of Broken Arrow and Kevin Graham
of Edmond. Also 2 stepdaughters: Shirley Jane Blair and husband, Richard, of Princeton, Texas and JoAnne Montgomery and husband, Paul, Rose, Okla.
Plus 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister and 2 brothers: Lou Penoi, Ponca City; Woody Cooper of Lufkin, Texas and Howard Cooper of Oklahoma City and a number of other
relatives.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother Duke Cooper of Stillwater and a sister, Jeri Cooper of Ponca City.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2003, at the Poteet Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tom Scott officiating. Interment followed in
