Samuel Florer, aged 66 years, 8 months and four days, and a pioneer settler on this part of Oklahoma, died at Eureka Springs Arkansas, where he had gone for his health, Sunday evening, August 15th, with heart trouble. The remains were brought here and laid to rest in the Terlton Cemetery Tuesday with services in the Christian Union Church, of which he was a member. The services were conducted by Reverand A. J. Graham, of Tyron, Oklahoma and Reverand A. J. Moore, of Terlton, with the assistance of the Terlton Post, Grand Army of the Republic.
Samuel Florer was born in Indiana on 11 December 1842, He gave his life for his country and for his god. He united with the church at age 24, served as class leader and as Sunday School Superintendent in Kansas for a number of years and always lived an earnest, devoted Christian life. His motto was: love mercy, deal justly and walk humbly before god. He married Elzina Mitchell and this union has brought forth a large family of upright citizens. By this heavenly call, Terlton loses one of its most influential Christian gentleman.
Besides the widow there are the following sons and daughters to mourn this great loss and to who are extended the sympathy of the entire community: John E. Florer, S. Oliver Florer, Benjamin Florer, Rose Flynn and Lillian Turner, all of Terlton. Arthur Florer, another son, died here about two days ago.
