I was born just outside Antlers May 12, 1947. Dr. Atkins
waded the creek to deliver me. My grandfather, Walter L.
GOLDEN, & grandmother, Mamie ELDER GOLDEN, lived on a
farm next door. My father was Edward GOLDEN. I would like
to find out more information on both the GOLDEN and ELDER

JOHN D. SMITH GRAVESITE

My gggrandfather, John D. SMITH, was Choctaw Indian. He
died about 1908 and is buried in the cemetery near the
Choctaw Council House in Tuskahoma. He was married to
Mary LOVE, who died about 1912 and was buried in the
cemetery near Sardis Lake. When the Lake was built, her
body along with a stillborn infant was exhumed and
reburied in an unmarked grave. Mary re-married after
John's death to a man by the name of HOUCH or HAWK. My
great grandmother was Sarah Linnie SMITH. She was raised
by Mary's mother Sarah MEYER LOVE after her mother's
death. Any help would be appreciated. I would like to get
the exact date of birth and death of John D. SMITH, if
the information is available on the tombstone. Thank you

JONES, STEPHENS

I am researching my grandparents, James P. JONES and Dora
E. Stephens, married in Wetumpka, OK in 1900. Lived in
Clayton, OK in 1920 with their children: Edgar, Eva,
Rufus, Schuler, Pauline and Irene. Pauline and Irene were
born in 1920, twins, although I have heard rumors they
were not. They were supposedly born in Tuskahoma, it has
been impossible to locate birth records. James JONES left
the family for TX in the late 1920's and was never heard
from again. Edgar also disappeared at that time. Dora and
her daughter Pauline DENNIS are buried in a cemetery in
Clayton. Looking for anyone who may have known them. Also
have lots of old photos, including photos of Jeff and
Cara STEPHENS, Wheeler STEPHENS, Jules STEPHENS, M.
MEDLOCK, K. BOOKOUT, and Carl DAVIS for anyone who may be

his wife Ida B. McCHAFLIN. They both died in Pushmataha
County, Oklahoma. I believe Kilgore D. ADAMS was born

Acenath SHOEMAKER RUDDICK are buried. They lived in the
Clayton, OK area, Jesse died ca 1925. Their children

My great uncle, Isaac Jasper BILBREY, 1866-1921 & his
wife, Phoebia Isbel BILBREY, 1884-1919 are buried in
Cloudy Cemetery near Antlers, OK. Isaac Jasper was born
in Overton Co. TN, the son of Chamberlain BILBREY, Civil
War blacksmith & Chamberlain's wife, Adaline ROBBINS
BILBREY. Jasper & his brother Andrew went to Oklahoma
in the early 1900's. It is believed that Isaac Jasper was
murdered. I have tried for years to find the newspaper
article on this killing to no avail. Is there someone in
Pushmataha who would look this up for me. I will
reimburse for the article. I was told by someone from the
Historical Society that an article is in the paper out

TAYLOR/TAILOR, DURANT

Syllen TAYLOR sometimes spelled Silin or Cilen TAILOR,
arrived in Indian Territory from Mississippi with her
family on 10 Dec 1852. They settled, at least
temporarily, in the vicinity of present-day Antlers.
Syllen was the daughter of Louis DURANT, the progenitor
of all the OK DURANTS. She was married to William TAYLOR
in Mississippi but William left her and the children. The
members of her family were her children, Alexander
(Elick), Jackson, Solomon, and Elizabeth TAYLOR CORSEY.
Also, Elizabeth's children William and Mary Ann. There
was also a grand-daughter of Syllen's, a child named
Evelim or Eveline ASHBROOK. Need informaton on any of
these folks but am particularly interested in the

Searching for any info on my ancestors who lived in the
Albion area. CRAWFORD, Sam. CRAWFORD, Mattison Barto (b.
22 Jun 1874 in Mountain Park, AR) D. c. 1942-43 in OK.
married Anna Louise KENNEDY (b. 21 Jul 1880 in Albion,
OK) d. c. 1916. She was daughter of Robert KENNEDY &
Nancy Jane MEYERS. Great-Great Grandfather remarried
after Nancy died. He married an Indian woman (unknown
which tribe although my Mom thinks it might have been
Cherokee). The last name was VON or VAUGHN with some of
the first names being George, Larken, Ella and Cleo Rose.
Also Nancy J. MYERS( MEYERS?) brothers were Bud, &
Lorance with sisters Julie & Aquilla. Mattison
B.CRAWFORD had the following children Emma, Alva, Clyde,
Lewis & Robert. He supposedly was a farmer. I do know
that he moved at least once to Bromide, (Coal Co) OK. Any
possible links would be greatly appreciated. Even
suggestions on microfilm or fische etc. to look thru!

in Ar and had three or four children, one girl named
CHRISTIE and a son named HARVEY. I find HENRY on the 1900
or 1910 census in Tuskahoma. Sorry to be so vague,
however, I am visiting my aunt in Luther, and I do not
have my notes with me. HENRY's father was the adoptive
father of my gr grandmother, MARY ELIZABETH (GILLESPIE)
THOMPSON. I am also searching for JAMES (JIM) GILLESPIE,

I was in Pushmataha County Okla April 3, 4, 5, 6, 1998
for the first time. My mother was born there on June 26
1910, to Virrie Bell STONE & Charlie Dixon ALLEN.
They lived on Little Cedar Creek & mother crossed the
creek to attend school at Mountain View. Charlie leased
land from Button Miller and raised cotton and corn. My
great grandparents Martha and J.W. ALLEN are buried in
the Finley Cemetary as well as other family members.
Sherman Oselo STONE my other great grandfather was buried
in the One Creek Cemetary. We visited the Belzona
Cemetary to find more family. Mother and Daddy took my
grandmother back there in the early 1950s to visit, but
mother did not get to go back to her home-place until
this trip. Virrie Bell STONE ALLEN THRELKELD HOSKING,
born Nov 4 l894, passed away in Nov, l997 in Grassvalley,
Calif. Charlie Allen born April 8, l884, died Feb 7, l935
in Dalhart, Texas. We still have a lot of decendants
living there. I would like to find out any & all info

& it listed Antlers, Oklahoma as his place of

I looking for details about Michael HAMBY,m Sara SMITH,
his sons & their families came to Pushmataha Co. from
Alabama. His sons were Jefferson Isaac HAMBY, William
Frank HAMBY (d 20 Aug 1920, buried at Darwin Cem), &
Benjamin Riley HAMBY (d 6 Feb 1896, buried at Old Kosoma
Cem). Benjamin's son Michael HAMBY was the postmaster
& a merchant in Kosoma in the late 1800's-early
1900's. Benjamin was married to two MCBROOM girls, Mary
Ann & Elizabeth. They were either sisters or cousins.
Elizabeth's father was Frank MCBROOM and her mother was

Died November 1, 1926. I have his childrens names, Alpha

wife's name. This gentleman apparently was my great
grandfather. Alpha Mae married my Grandfather D. L.
Simpson. I am told this family had Choctaw bloodlines.

lived on a farm west of Antlers, OK around Darwin from
about 1948 to 1963. George Douglas BEAM b. 27 Jul 1914 in
St. Joseph, Missouri & d. 01 Nov 1960 in Antlers,
Oklahoma. He married Bertha Marie SCHANBECK b. 26 Jun
1928; d. 28 Jan 1963 on 16 Nov 1947 in Seattle,
Washington. They had seven children : George F. BEAM,
Constance Mae BEAM-SMITH, Cheryl D. BEAM-BURGESS-JANTZEN,
John C. BEAM, Nancy S. BEAM-LUTTRELL, Sandra G.
BEAM-POPE, & Beverly BEAM-BRICKHOUSE. Any information
on George F. would be greatly appreciated by all of his
sibilings, since none have seen or heard from him since
their parents died & he moved out on his own. They
don't even know if he is still alive or if he got married
& had children. He left Antlers headed to the World's
Fair in New York sometime in 1964-65. Any info on other
family members before they left Antlers would be also

Willie W. were in Pushmataha County, OK around 1910
according to deeds for the several small tracts of land
they bought in Red River County, TX a few miles away. I
am looking for any information on this couple & their

NOAH ERNEST DAVIS was born in PUSHMATAHA COUNTY , August
29, 1892. He had at least 2 brothers that I know of,
their names were, Joseph W. DAVIS & Sam DAVIS. Noah
later married PEARL MAE HILL & they had at least 7 or
more children, but, only 3 lived. Their names are Evelyn,
Eva & Joseph Ernest DAVIS who was born in 1927 in
Hartshorne, Ok. Evelyn died in Coffeeville, Kansas. She
had no children. Eva hasn't been heard of since her
husband died in Prescott, Arizona. She had atleast 7
children. Joseph is still alive & well. He has 4
children, 6 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pearl died around 1929 when Joseph was only 2 years old
& Noah died in 1957. At that time Sam lived in
Russellville, Ark. & Joseph W. lived in Ada, Ok. I
have no idea if they had or have a family of their own.

information that would help me it would be greatly

I am trying to locate where my 88 year old mother, Anna
CHARLTON STEPHENS lived & went to school during
1918-19. Her parents were Charlie Allen & Ethel
CHARLTON. She recalls living close to Cloudy where they
share-cropped on Esker Linley's(?) land & a place
that she has many fond memories of, "Happy
Hollow." In the 1920 Federal Census of OK, the
family is listed as living in Kiamichi Township,
Pushmataha County. She remembers walking 4 miles (one
way) to LeFlore County School & her teacher's name
was Zetta Mae BOOF. My father, Willie (Bill) STEPHENS'
family was Sherman & Sally STEPHENS. They lived
around Ringold & ran cattle on land around Pickens
they leased from Noah SHOKONE. We have visited Cloudy
&, of course, nothing looks familiar to her now, but
where is/was Happy Hollow and Kiamichi Township? Thank
