HOWARD, BARNES

The family I am looking for from Pushmataha Co. are the HOWARD's. They are my grandparents, Daniel Thomas and Olga Helena (BARNES) HOWARD. They were married Aug. 27, 1899 in Mena, Polk Co., AR, but moved to OK shortly thereafter, possibly 1900 or so. They would eventually have fifteen children, not all of them living to adulthood. One of the little stories my mother, Juanita Pauline HOWARD who was the 14th in order and the youngest girl used to tell about was "all the bigger kids would drag us little'uns with them when they went up the Winding Stair Mountains." She said, "it just went round' and round." She also said she was maybe three or four at the time. I do remember her and some of her siblings talking about when they lived in Kiamichi, OK. Thanks for your help.

McCRARY

I am looking for the name of a Baptist Church in Clayton where my grandfather, James F. McCRARY, was minister in early 1930's. He filed his papers in Pushmataha County, OK on July 14, 1931. This was recorded in Book of Minister Records Bk. 1, p.219 according to papers I have signed by the county clerk at that time. I remember my father, Thomas McCRARY, talking about Clayton and all the good times he had there as a young boy. They may not have lived in Clayton more than a year.

HAYNES, LeFLORE

My family is from Tuskahoma. William Ely HAYNES and (Verna) Arizona LeFLORE. I have the LeLFORE's back to France in the 1600s but the HAYNES family trail ends in GA in 1859. William owned the HAYNES Grocery, gas pump & the HAYNES Construction Company in Tuskahoma. Everbody in town worked for him & shopped at his store. He let many run up charges during the depression knowing they could never pay. I own a very small piece of land in Tuskahoma that is all that is left of the family land there. Most of it was bought by the church & made into a parking lot. Thanks for your page.

MCEWIN, WAGNER

I was hoping to find marriage records for 1905 thru 1912 online. I believe James Weaver MCEWIN may have been married twice during that time. He eloped by train from Arthur City, TX to Antlers, OK, I've been told. Also trying to find a list of men who served as US government agents to the Choctaw from 1884 to 1890. My grand-father, Alford J. WAGNER said he was an Indian agent before the Oklahoma Land rush & that he was there to witness the starting gun for the land rush. Do you know where the records would be? The Ft. Worth federal archives claim there are no lists or indexes for Indian agents. Thanks for your consideration.

DAUGHTRY, FRITH, SALMON

I am looking for any info on Mary Jane DAUGHTRY. She was on the 1860 Federal census in the Choctaw Nation, it listed the county as Kiamichia, probably Kiamichi. Any way she was married to Corry Herbert FRITH & had a son of the same name in Montague County, TX in 1885. This son married Frances SALMON in Anadarko in 1909. Any info anyone can provide would be most helpful. My great grandpa was Tom FRITH & he was supposed to have come from Golconda & he named his only son Corry Herbert. FITZGERALD, ROBBINS, KISTLER

I'm searching for info on my g-g-grandmother, Martha Josephine FITZGERALD. She was in the Pushmataha Co. 1910 census of Antlers living with her son Robert D. FITZGERALD (38), his wife Lola B. (33), & their children Alfred (14), Luther D. (13), & Walter Dall (6). She was the 69 year old widow of Alfred McElroy FITZGERALD w/her own income (maybe a Civil War Pension) & was born in North Carolina. Her maiden name was KISTLER. Her children had all been born in Mississippi & Texas. I've found a photo of her daughter Maggie S. FITZGERALD (Mrs. Wiley ROBBINS) standing by a 4 ft tall grave monument that read, as far as I can tell, Martha FITZGERALD April 10, 1848 to Sept. 2, 1914. I think it might have been taken in the 1930's. I suspect she died in or near Antlers & would love to be able to confirm it. Robert's family was in Finley in the 1920 census w/out her, of course. I've not been able to find them in the 1900 Indian Territory census although all of Martha's other children & their families were in Coalgate in the future Coal County. I'd be very interested in finding out more about Robert's family, too. In 1920, Robert's son Alfred (24) was newly married to Jenne (16) & living 2 families away from his parents in Finley. Thank you.

KENNEDY

I am looking for info on my great grandparents whom my dad said lived in Antlers, OK. He did not know their names but said his mom always said she had 2 brothers -- Sam KENNEDY & Luther KENNEDY. My grandmothr's name was Ida May KENNEDY, she was born in 1894, I don't know where though. She left home when she was very young & came to Skeede, OK, where she moved in with Elias BRYANT, my grandfather. My grandmother bore 3 children by him while living with him & his wife. It's hard to believe that kind of thing went on back then & I'm a little embarrased by it, but sure would like to know more about my roots. My dad's name was John KENNEDY, born 3/10/1914 in Avant, OK. He died 2 years ago, & the only living relative is my aunt, his sister. She doesn't remember anything about her grandparents names, only that they lived in Antlers. She also would like to know more to pass on to her kids & grandkids. She is 82 years old so I sure would like to find out something before she passes away. I sure would appreciate any help on this. I'm new at this so don't know where exactly to start, but thought this might be a good place. Thank you & hope you can help me.

I am searching the following names BRAND, BUTLER, JONES, YANDELL. I am sure the BUTLERs & YANDELLs have ties in Pushmataha Co. as some of my grandmother's family still lives in the area. McCARY, BARNS, FLATT

Hello. I am reseraching my family genealogy. My grandmother was born in Antlers, OK. Her maiden name was Jaunita McCARY. Her mother's name was Cora BARNS McCARY. My grandmother said that Cora was buried in Antlers in the Halls Cemetery. I have had no luck finding any such cemetery. Cora BARNS' mother was supposedly part Choctaw. Cora's parents are Caldonia Emmaline FLATT, b. 1873 in Corinth, MS. She married James McCARY in TN in 1894. Caldonia & James had about a dozen children. They had children in TN; Grant, OK; Cold Springs, OK; Burg, AR; & Antlers, OK. James McCARY's parents were David Crockett FLATT of TN 1837 & Charity LAMBERT of either GA or NC. Charity b. 1837 was supposedly an Indian woman that was taken off the reservation. I have come up at a dead end w/any documentation or proof that any of this is true. I can't even find Hall Cemetery. If you could possible lead me in the right direction it sure would be appreciated.

I am searching for info on my ggrandparents. James MYERS was from AL & his wife Barbara (HALE?) was from AR. They had my grandmother, Rose, 1894 in Pushmataha Co. I believe that they are probably buried in or around what was Tuskohumace (Tuskahoma?) Township. They had several other children - Sally, George, Mollis, Pearl & John. Sometime between 1900 & 1910, my great grandmother died & my ggf married a woman by the name of Ada. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

SHAW, DICKERSON

Oral Alma SHAW married to Nora DICKERSON in Pushmataha Co, 21 Nov 1920. I would like any information regarding either name. I believe Oral's father, Thomas SHAW, was born in IL & he was married to Ester FELIX. However, the census of 1920 shows him married to Ethel A. ESTER. Must have died but where? I have no information on Nora DICKERSON, who were her parents? Any siblings? Any family remaining in the area? Thanks.
