Barbara Ann Townsley - 8 Aug 2002
I am related to this Hooper Clan. William Riley HOOPER, son of Joseph Cleveland HOOPER and Melinda (BROWN) HOOPER, born 1849 and died in 1942 was my great grandfather. William Riley HOOPER married Mary Frances JUNIOR.
They had 10 children as follows: Obadiah married Fannie ROBERTSON; John Franklin (Frank) married Minnie Savannah HUDDLESTON; Florence Eugenia married George Washington TOWNSLEY (my grandfather); Nancy Modinna (Deanie) married James Frank HALE; Susie married Saul JUSTIN; William Rampy (Rampy) married Dora GULLEDGE; Luther Cleveland married Laura Alice MONKRES; Ciscero (Bud) married Nancy WILSON; Frank - wife unknown; Floyd married Lula. My father was Frank Washington TOWNSLEY, son of Florence Eugenia HOOPER and George Washington TOWNSLEY. I am Barbara Ann TOWNSLEY married to Buford ALSTON. I am Frank's oldest living child. This information is correct as far as I know; however there could be some errors. George W. TOWNSLEY came from Missouri. He married Florence Eugenia HOOPER in Wynnewood, I.T., Oklahoma. They moved to Missouri in their early marriage. They moved to Louisiana in two covered wagons in about 1916, when my dad was six years old. William Riley's wife, Mary Frances, is buried in Big Pastures, Randlett OK. I have not been able to learn where he is buried, but somewhere in OK. I would appreciate hearing from you with any additional information you may be able to supply. I live in Lake Charles, LA. Thanks

I have roots that go back to Cotton County. My Great Grandparents were James Franklin HALE & Nancy Modinna (HOOPER), who was born April 2, 1875 in Cleburn County, Alabama. I think she is the daughter of William Riley HOOPER. Any information would be helpful.
