October 28, 2001Allen Leon McGuire, born June 29, 1939 at
Kellyville to Clark Allen and Edith Mae McGuire, Allen Leon
McGuire died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001 at the age of 62 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
Clark and Edith McGuire;
one brother, Kenneth R. McGuire, one stepson, Ricky Casey; and
two grandchildren, Trevor Allen McGuire and John David
Goldesberry.
He is survived by his two sons, Richard Allen McGuire and
Chet Wilson McGuire both of Sapulpa; two stepdaughters, Jessica
DeShazier and Marilyn Holets, both of Oilton.
He had 12 grandchildren; three brothers, Charles McGuire and
Larry McGuire both of Drumright, Phillip McGuire of Oilton; four
sisters Marla O'Neill, Elaine Dodd, Karen Smith all of Drumright
and Nelda Robinson of Jenks; and numerous nieces and nephews
whom he loved very much.
Leon graduated as valedictorian of Kellyville High School. He
went on to play country music with many friends and family and
also had numerous songs copyrighted, including his most
requested "Welfare Song."
He loved life and he loved people but most of all he was
proud of his children and grandchildren.
Leon would host benefits for friends and family in need and
people would come from miles around. He was self-employed in
real estate and could fix anything that needed fixing.
Services will be Saturday Oct. 27, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the West
Side Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Millard McGuire
officiating. Burial at
Sunrise Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home
