Sapulpa Woman Is Killed In Car-Truck Collision; Three Children Injured

Billie Reed Is Dead; Trucker May Be Cited

A 27 year old Sapulpa woman was killed and three of her children were injured -- two critically - in a car-truck collision Wednesday evening on Highway 66 west of Bristow.

Dead is Mrs. Billie Irene Reed, who less than two weeks ago was wed to Fred N. Reed.

Listed in critical condition Thursday at a Tulsa hospital were Judy Ann Mitchell, 9, and Brenda Mitchell, 2, both children from a previous marriage.

Friends reported Judy Ann, was still unconscious Thursday, suffering from a skull fracture. Brenda, who was being rushed to the hospital when the tragic accident happened, also suffered head injuries and both of her legs were broken.

Also hospitalized at Tulsa in less serious condition was Raymond Eugene Mitchell, 4, who suffered a broken leg, and a broken jaw, in addition to head injuries.

Reed was not seriously injured, but was admitted to a Bristow hospital for treatment of shock. A fourth child, Gary Micheal, 6, was at home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Friend, 619 E. Lee, Sapulpa, at the time of the accident.

Friends reported the Reed family had been visiting the husband's mother in Stroud, when a Judy became ill. The child was reported running a high fever and was unconscious when the family started rushing her to a Bristow hospital.
