Margaret Elkouri Harris 88, passed away on February 26, 2008.
She was born on October 23, 1919 in Byron, Oklahoma to
David and Adel Elkouri .
She graduated from Snyder High School and the Oklahoma College
for Women in Chickasha.
Margaret married Exton Harris on April 7, 1946 and worked for
many years before becoming a stay at home mom. Immediately prior
to her retirement, she served as the periodicals librarian at
Oklahoma City University. During her retirement years, she
excelled at being 'Grandmother', and she loved to read. Although
unable to physically attend church, she belonged to Church of
the Servant UMC and was faithful in attending through their
televised services.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband; her parents;
sisters, Victoria Finley and Coleta
Elkouri ; and brother, Kameel Elkouri .
She is survived by
son, Mike Harris and wife Jan; daughter, Michele Compton and
husband Larry; sister, Lucille Cox; brothers, Frank Elkouri and
wife Edna, and Jim Elkouri ; grandchildren, Macy Wilson and
husband Trapper, John Harris, Andrew Compton and James Compton;
great-grandchildren, Tess Wilson and Harris Wilson; nephew,
Richard Cox and niece Anita Kay Jones. Special thanks to the
caregivers at 21st Century Home Health and Quail Ridge Assisted
Living for the love and attention they provided.
The funeral
service will be held at 2 pm, Friday, February 29, 2008, at
Chapel Hill UMC, 2717 W Hefner Road, with interment to follow at
Fairlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 am - 8 pm on
Thursday at Smith & Kernke.
