PIERCE, EVANS

Jesse February 16, 2004
I am looking for information on an Ada PIERCE born 1871 around or in what is now Frederick, Tillman County, Oklahoma. She married Lemuel Melson EVANS in Texas. She died in March 1908 and was buried in the Hillman Cemetary in Medina, Texas. The youngest daughter of Lemuel and Ada, Amanda Evans was born Jan. 1908 and was raised by her Pierce Grandmother in Oklahoma. I am searching for any information on Ada's parents or siblings.

WATSON

Raymond J. Watson February 25, 2004
My Grand father Samuel Watson and his wife Nettie (Vaughn) Watson came to Tillman/Comanche County from Montgomery County Ks. for the 1901 land lottery. With them came their 3 sons, John James (Jim); William McKinley (Mac); Theodore (Ted) and a daughter Mary Ellen. Samuel's brother James William and their mother Nancy (Whitlow) Watson were also included in this migration.
Interestingly Samuel and his Mother Nancy each drew adjoining 160 acre claims. James William was not lucky enough to draw a claim. These claims were located 1 mile north and 4 miles west of Chattanooga on Jack Creek. I believe this places them in Tillman County. In 1905 a 4th son Olen was born.
In 1906 Sam's wife Nettie died. In 1908 Sam met and married Sophia Louvitia Ogle, a school teacher from Tennessee. Sam & Sophie had 4 children. Samuel Eli; (my father) Frank Winford; Charles Quentin; and Maggie E.
The Watson's were farmers originally from Kentucky and I am sure worked hard to make a successful farm in Tillman County. Unfortunately after approximately 10 yrs they gave up and moved to Leflore County in 1912.
This is the extent of current knowledge of this chapter in my families life in Oklahoma. If anyone has additional information I would certainly like to hear from them.
