Phillip Wayne McGuire of Oilton was born in Sapulpa Jan 1, 1959 to the
late Clark Allen McGuire and Edith (Lawson)
McGuire. He passed from this life suddenly at his residence on Aug. 21, 2008
at the age of 49 years, seven months and 20 days.
At the age of nine, his parents died so he went to live with his sister and
brother-in-law, Karen and Jack Smith who finished raising him in Sapulpa where
he was a 1978 graduate of Sapulpa High School. For the past 19 years he resided
in Oilton.
He loved to play the guitar, write music, watch NASCAR and he never met a
stranger.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers,
Allen Leon McGuire and Kenneth Ronald McGuire.
His remaining family includes the love of his life, Shirley Quintana of the
home in Oilton; her children, Rebecca Carey of Hulbert, Albert Quintana of
Colorado, Jody Quintana of Tulsa, Robbie Quintana of Colorado and Eli Quintana
of Oilton; two brothers, Charles Lee McGuire of Drumright and Larry Dean McGuire
of Drumright; four sisters, Karen Smith, Edith Dodd, Marla O'Neal and Nelda
McGuire all of Drumright; seven grandchildren; his grandmother, Trella Bell
Smith of Sapulpa; two aunts, Geraldine Ford of Drumright and Rose McGuire of
Broken Arrow; 21 nieces and nephews; 43 great-nieces and nephews; 10
great-great-nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and a host of loving
friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 26 at the Westside Freewill
Baptist Church in Sapulpa with the Rev. Milliard McGuire officiating. Active and
honorary casket bearers were Hilario Devargas, Daniel Cardwell, Jeremy Prather,
Rick McGuire, Chat McGuire, Kenny McGuire, Darin Smith, Larry K. Dodd, Benny
O'Neal, Brad O'Neal and Scott Robinson. Interment followed at the
Sunrise Cemetery in Kellyville.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Michael's Funeral Home of Drumright.
