I don't think there is any relation around Wyoming but I might be mistaken. My Great Grandfather was Levi Marion Millhollin born Jan 8,1852 died July 8,1933 was married to Fedelia Haynes. My Grandfather was Joseph Elijah born Nov 26,1884 died Sept 6,1962 was married to Ada C. Thatcher born May 2,1893 died Oct. 4, 1960. My Dad's Levi Marion Millhollin born Jan23,1914 died March 20,1995 married Mary C. Martin born June 12,1924 died April 2,2004. My Dad's siblings were Albert, Minnie, Louis, Mary, John , Viola, Bertie. That's about all I know other than he had alot of cousins from different places. All his siblings were born around Vinita, OK as far as I know. Hope this helps some. I was always told that my Great,Great Grandfather came from Scotland but stories can be misinterpretated. Whis I could help more.

Eastern State Hospital Query posted by Duanedonnacolton on April 13, 2010

Hi...I'd like to know how to make the Eastern State Hospital a Historical site. The plans are to tear down the buildings...they are magnificant...WOULD MAKE AN AWESOME MUSEUM... or etc...what a waste!!! Seems like a lot of Oklahoma history will be demolished! They had a library...hospital and etc...I wish everyone that could would at least look at them ...then give your opinion. You can only see from the road...but it is like a small town. Wichita, Ks. made Cowtown...for historical info...it has a lot of value...THIS could be even BIGGER !!!

Query posted by Thompson, Eddene on May 16, 2010 for MARTIN

Hello, I am Eddene Hightower Thompson, oldest child/daughter of Eunice (Swift) and Roscoe Hightower of Vinita. I have worked family tree for 38 yrs, have a database of over 105,000 which I share portions of with others often and I do lots of FREE research for helps. I grew up knowing Mary Catherine, Pauline, and all of them, but not as well as my folks did. I was born and raised in Vinita. I have worked on lots of local families, some with extended ancestries and I have shared with Sarrah Amos and some others in the past. I would be willing to do so with any others.
You mentioned that you wonder if they were INDIAN... Here is the census to answer your question to some degree:
CENSUS/EDDENE, MAR 2007:
1930 Vinita town, Vinita twp, printed pg 175, Apr 19:
332 Wilson street; house 11, family 12:
Martin, Laith, rents/home/$7; 51, indian, md@42yrs, MO Mixed Cherokee
Martin, Myra, wife, 50,, md@22, AR MO TN
Holston, Troy, step-son, white, 25, single, AR AR AR
Holston, Lora, stepson, white, 20, single MO AR AR
Holston, Floren(e), step-dau, white, 15, single, AR AR AR
Holston, Pauline, step-dau, white, 13, single, AR AR AR
Martin, Mary Catherine, dau, indian, 13, OK Mixed Cherokee
Martin, L.C., son, indian, 5, OK Mixed Cherokee
=========
If I can help you with anything please let me know.
Eddene Hightower Thompson, OkieEddy@yahoo.com
I live in Inola, OK. My mother is now 92yrs old, still living in the homestead where we were all raised on North Second Street, Vinita. She has a hard time remembering some of the 'old' details, but we're talking about 60-some years ago..

Thank you so much for your reply to my question. Although the census says they are mixed Cherokee we still can't get any thing done because my Great Grandpa was born in Arkansas and my sister and I have talked to people that work with the Dawes Roll and said that we can't get anything unless they were in Oklahoma in certain counties and at certain periods of time. Makes no sense to us but we have tried and have come up empty handed. Thank you though for your help. By the way I see your sister Frances alot and also sometimes I see Lavon.

Query posted by Thompson, Eddene on May 16, 2010 for , MARTIN, RUSH, MILLHOLLIN, HIGHTOWER, WOODARD, HOLT

I have lots of fond memories of your mom and Pauline. When Mother lost our first little babybrother, Roscoe Edward Hightower,Jr May 1948 at 2 days old, they sang Shall we gather at the river at his graveside services at Bluejacket. Brother Morgan spoke, Daddy's knelt and cried, I'm sure my Grandparents Hightower were there, Mother didn't get to go, Lillie Woodard (we called her Lillie of the Valley) was there to stay with her and console her through it all. Mary Catherine was married to Jess Holt first and Mother and her siblings were all close to the Holt family as friends, too. I remember seeing LC Martin at Hosea and Marvin Martin's folks place on No 2nd from time to time. Seems like he had a bad or artificial leg if I am remembering him right. I am attaching a pic of your Martins, plus Laith's sister, Victoria "Vick" Martin Rush, left in picture. Other one is 4th street church before my time (born 1943)..Vick is in back, Granny Mac, Granny Johnson on the right.. some others I don't know.. I can't swear I got the Martin picture, but the church came from Mother. I knew Betty Millhollin from in school.. will share any info I have. Eddene

Thank you so much for the pictures. My Uncle George had one leg shorter than the other because he had Polio when he was just a young boy. I havn't seen your Mother in years but I always ask how she is when I see Frances. She says she's doing well considering her age. I have a small quilt that has alot of people that embroidered their names, age and year on it. Your Mom was 16 years old when it was made.I treasure it so much. It is getting close to being almost 90 some years old.(or 80 some) anyway it is nice talking to you and learning things I didn't know. I also have been in contact with Sara Martin Amos. She seems to be a real nice lady, although I have never met her. Thanks again and have a great day. Take care, Lila Millhollin Caton.
