JONES FAMILY - 1920'S - 1930'S Date: 6 Aug 2000 I am searching for any info on the following JONES family, who lived in Seminole between 1923 thru 1936. Some were born in Arkansas, some in Seminole: Husband: ANDREW G. JONES b. Ark. 1875 d. TX Wife: MARY(CANTRELL-COX)JONES b. Ark. 1892 d. KS Children: 1. LOTTIE COX b. Ark. 1910 (Mary's dau. by previous marriage.) Incidentally, Lottie was married to Bill Wesley, an Indian, and they lived in Shawnee, OK before settling in Seminole. She was still in Seminole in 1999. 2. IMOGENE JONES b. Ark 1919 d. TX 3. LEVI H. "BUCK" JONES b. Ark. 1922 d. TX 4. LEON R. JONES b. probably OK 1927 d. TX 5. DOROTHY M. JONES b. OK 1929 d. KS 6. PATSY M. JONES b. OK 1932 still living (TX) Patsy's birth certificate lists Andy Jones' occupation in Seminole as a laborer for the city. Lists his age as 56. Andy was a heavy drinker, and possibly had a few "run-ins" with the law. Mary, my grandmother, told me that they lived in "tents" - as they didn't have much money. Andy was part Cherokee, although he listed his race on Patsy's birth certificate as "white". Interested in ANY records there may be of this family: census, criminal or civil cases, employment records, birth announcements, etc. Any information or help would be appreciated. Carol Linze =========== Date: 10 Jul 1999 Looking for information (census, court records, etc). for Andrew G. JONES, and/or wife Mary Ann (Cautrell Cox), and children Imogene b.3-1919 or 1921; Levi H. b. 11-21-1922, Leon R. b. 11-19-1927; Dorothy M. b. 12-15-1929; and Patsy b. 5-5-1932 (her b. cert. says dob. 5-6-1932). Andrew was 56 at time of last birth, and Mary Ann was listed as 38 (probably 40). Lived in SEMINOLE, OK during kids births, but left sometime after 1933. He was listed as working for the city in 1932 as a day laborer. Andy was 1/2 Cherokee. Mary Ann and Andy were both born in Arkansas - she in Garland Co., 1892, and he in Montgomery, AR in 1875. They possibly had Mary Ann's child, Lottie, from her 1st marriage in AR, with them. Andy was known to be an alcoholic, who frequently was in trouble with the law in one way or another. My grandma told of her getting mad at Andy one time and chasing him with an axe and he ran to the local jail and they let him stay for awhile til she cooled down! Are there any jail records from that time period (1920-1932) available or a name of the jail then? Andy died in Ft. Worth, TX in the 1950's. My grandma died in 1980. All the children except Lottie and Patsy are deceased. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Carol Ruppel
