Your Coats family is not the same as the one in the history book. Those Coats were in I.T. by 1880's. If yours was married in Maryland, he was a late comer, probably coming around statehood Also, if the state was abbreviated on the license, MO and MD look alike in handwritten records

Suggest you write to the Craig County Genealogical Society. They recently put out an index of the Welch newspaper and I believe the name McAllister is in it.

Thanks for your reply. My grandfather was born in Missouri and gave 'Afton, OK' as his last address before coming to Maryland and marrying my Grandmother in 1923. I figure he was born about 1900-02. I'm at a brick wall!

Sarah, I remember that there was quite a bit in the book, but I am afraid that I sold it. There are people on this board that mention the book in their postings. They would probably do a look-up for you. Maxi

Seeking information on my grandfather, Maxwell Eman Coats, born in MO 1900-02, living in Afton, OK prior to 1923. Married in Western Maryland in 1923 to my grandmother. Lost track of him after he went looking for work in the 30's. Have reason to believe he may have been Cherokee, as there are many with that surname in that section of OK. Thank you for anything!

I do not know if Carter was maiden name or previous married name. I have not been able to trace her and would like to have grave stone information which might help. I believe she was from Texas. Also, John's second wife, Nancy Angeline (Annie) Strain. I believe she died in Oct. 1929. Any help would be appreciated.

I have quite a few relatives who were either born in Vinita or moved to vinita. Jess James Robinson born in IND @1881 married Della Culler b1884 Iowa, were married in Vinita. Frank & Dora Cox owned the Blackstone Hotel in the 1920's. Henry Culler and family moved to vinita from Iowa. Jess Robinson was part cherokee and lived with his sister. Maybe Alma Mae Wheeler. Nickeles ALbert Collins of MO married Margaret Davis of MO. Lived in VInita. Any infor please help.

Why was he admitted to Eastern State Hospital? I've heard many different stories and I would like to know the truth. I have a letter dated February 16, 1958 and the Medical Superintendents letter head says P. L. Hays, M.D.. Did my grandfather die at the hospital? I have a newspaper article stating he died at home. Can I obtain a copy of his medical records. This is very important to me personally. I never knew my grandfather and would like to know my past. Thank you, Kenneth R. Dunn

Have in my Cherokee By Blood book, vol. 4: 9220. RUTH A. ALLEN and 2 children, Catale, Okla. Admitted. Mother enrolled as "Susan Miller" Del. 905. ROLL P23 #3656 FCT COMM #27641 - Ruth A. Allen - 45 3657 27646 - Gretchen (dau) - 5 3658 2038m - Edna P. (dau) - 3 9220 is the application number for Ruth. She would be claiming her blood thru her parents, so there would not be much information on Albert. Allen is not listed with this family so either he passed on, or moved on. I looked on the 1880 census and there is not an Albert Allen or a Ruth Miller listed. Hope this gives you some help.
