Spavinaw Creek lies mostly in Mayes County, OK. See this link http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~okgenweb/pioneer/ohs/smithcleracy.html for some perspective on the area in the late 1800s. The link is to my great grandmother's Indian Pioneer Paper interview, but there are plenty like it available online that tell similar stories.

Need help with the Hunt family please   1002

I'm looking for info on George Hunt. Born in Dec 1870 he married Ella Wingfield in 1890. Their marriage is listed in the Cherokee Nation Marriages book and Indian Chieftain newspaper. We've always been told that the Hunts were Native American, we're just having problems proving it. ANY help that anyone can offer me would be greatly appreciated.
