Obituary Lookups Needed for Relmond and Robert Mason 1221A

Query posted by Thejnorky on November 19, 2010

I am hoping someone will be willing to look up obituaries for Relmond and Robert Mason. Relmond died 27 Feb 1906 and his son Robert died 27 Aug 1903. I am more interested in Relmond's obituary because I am curious how he died. I have been searching for him for years and finally found him buried in Walker Cemetery in Welch, Craig, Oklahoma.

Cemetery in area of Fields and Goldenrod schools 1223B
|
Query posted by Cabincreek138 on November 29, 2010

Can anyone tell me whether there is/was a cemetery in the area of the Fields and Goldenrod schools -- that would be northwest of Welch and south of Chetopa, Kansas? The names of families living in the area in the 1920's-1940's included Fields, McCord, Rohmiller, Wade, Weaver, and Yost.

My grand father James Camac Wilkinson was US. Marshal who worked for the Pittsburg County Sheriff's department. He was supposed to be the son of a Man also named James C. Wilkinson who was US Marshal for the Hanging Judge Roy Bean of Ft. Smith AR. They told met the James C. Wilkinson you're talking about was shot and survived 32 gun shot wounds in his time as Marshall which was a record for anyone living in that era. of bad medicine. I was really excited to see where you said his son was in McAlester, OK. I know this has to be my Grandpa. He was born in Oct 29, 1878, d. Dec 11, 1937, his wife was Mary Nell McNamee. His son was my grandpa John Clayton Wilkinson. My dad was Bernerd McNamee Wilkinson. I am John Charles Wilkinson.

What a great Christmas present to hear from a great grandson of my great uncle, James Cammac Wilkinson (senior). You are the first living, direct descendant of James that I have found. I have been researching him for quite a while now after I was given a photo' of him in his Civil War Veterans uniform by my late mother, Eva Evans (born Wilkinson) who was his niece. I would be happy to pass on my research to you and will do this as soon as I have brought one or two things up to date. Are you living in America? We are flying to Seattle from the U.K. next May to go on an Alaskan cruise. I am attaching a Gedcom file of my Wilkinson Family Tree which I am hoping you have suitable software to open. I have added the details you have given me - I already had your grandfather on it but didn't have exact dates for him or any descendants, my source had given your grandmother as "McNamu" rather than "McNamee" which I assume is correct as your father had it also as a middle name. Are you in contact with any descendants of your grandfather's brothers or sister? We are second cousins twice removed!! The other person who responded to your answer to my post is a former US policeman who is researching James senior and hopes to write an article about him. Thanks again for making contact.

Having trouble contacting you; if you are a paid member of Ancestry can you view my contact info? I can't afford to pay for membership. I'm writing this under my wife's login since mine isn't working properly.

I re-read your message and realized I didn't answer all your questions. James Camac Wilkinson my great grand father was married to Mary Nell McNamee. They had 3 sons and two daughters. John Clayton Wilkinson (my grandpa), Cashish Mac Wilkinson, James Camac "Boots" Wilkinson, Mary Ann "Toots" (Wilkinson)Gaugh, and Theresa (Wilkinson)Haaser. Theresa (Wilkinson) Haaser is the only one still alive and she lives in Barling, Arkansas. She is 92 or 93 years old now. Toots Wilkinson's Daugher Mary Ann Mauchner is still alive and also lives in Barling Arkansas and has done a lot of gen. work on the Mary Nell McNamee side of the family, but not a whole lot on the Wilkinson side, but she does have some interesting information. There are a few pictures of James Camac Wilkinson around that show him with a Winchester Rifle and his Marshal's Badge on. I don't have those pictures with me as they were left with my mom in Oklahoma. She wouldn't know where to find them, so it would be hard for me to obtain a copy of them. I may have one of him with me where he is sitting by the McAlester Jail house reclining back in a wooden chair asleep. I will look for it. My dad's name was Bernard McNamee Wilkinson. McNamee was the sir name of Mary Nell McNamee. Her mother was McNally. My grand mother Gladice Elizabeth "Barnhill" Wilkinson was 1/2 Choctaw and 1/2 Chickasaw Indian. Very little information about her family because they didn't keep any family records. Her uncle was the last man to be executed by the Choctaw Nation in 1899. I got the name John Charles Wilkinson because my grand fathers were John Clayton Wilkinson and John Charles Dever both of English/Irish decent. So I got my first name from both Grandpas. I unfortunately never got to know either of them. Dever was killed when I was one years old Wilkinson died when I was 8 years old. I don't remember either of them. I only know my Grand Pa Wilkinson was a highly skilled Blacksmith, and butcher and alcoholic who had 8 children. 4 are still living.
