Query posted by Richards, Debbie on April 06, 2006

Tammy, go to this link: http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/ and click on Index and Database of Rolls, scroll down and click on Dawes Final Rolls. Type in Landrum in the last name and then Lone in the first. It brings up six Landrum's with Lone as the first name. Click on the link under card and it will bring up the family members listed together. This is interesting because each one lists a Lone and Cherokeery with each card. Under type, F means Freedman, FD means Freedman, doubtful or denied and FM means Freedman, minor. It would be worth ordering one or more of these Dawes Packet since it does have valuable information in them. Your best bet would be the one that shows as F with a roll # like the F1498 packet. You can find out how by clicking on Guide to the Final Rolls of the Five Civilized Tribes link above where you type in the name. It cost $10.00 for each one and I just usually do it thru the e-mail. I put in the subject, Ordering Dawes Packet, then I copy and paste the family/families of the card I'm ordering in microsoft word and add as an attachment. I let them know in the e-mail that I would like to order the attached Dawes Packets. On that attachment at the bottom I give them all my information as name, address, phone #, credit card number, how name is spelled on credit card and expiration date. This is the fastest way of getting them. Once they process the credit card, they are in the mail. I have received them in 3 days. Otherwise, it will take a long time to get them. Good luck and if you need anymore help just e-mail me at debrtwo@comcast.net. Debbie Richards

Rhonda, it would be worth your time when you hit a brick wall to look thru Cyndi's list. Go to this link: http://www.cyndislist.com/us/ok and scroll down to the Query box under Miscellaneous. Type in the last name and look through the many links it has listed since there are census, obits, cemeteries and etc. Good luck. Debbie

William Lemons may be a fairly common name, so I don't know that this is the same man. However, a William Lemons who lived in Craig Co., OK was the father of at least two children born in the area, Hallie Lemons Bond, born 21 Mar 1907, and Herman Lemons, born 21 Jul 1910. I believe this William Lemons died Jan 1977 while living at Miami, OK. Hallie married Albert H. Bond and was the mother of at least four children. William, Herman, and Hallie are all on the SSDI. I think this same William Lemons married Myrtle Lucille Kauffman (second marriage), and they were the parents of a daughter named Patricia Lemons. Myrtle died 1971 and is buried at Cleora, Delaware Co., OK. I don't know where William is buried.
